Merill Comeau is a mixed media artist creating installations, murals and garments examining narratives of repair and regeneration. Her work has been featured in over 80 exhibitions, at venues including the Fuller Craft Museum, Danforth Art Museum, Attleboro Arts Museum, Museums of Old York, Maine, the Center for Contemporary Craft in Pittsburgh, PA, the Edward M. Kennedy Institute of Boston, and the Fitchburg Art Museum where she received the staff prize in 2019 and juror’s 2nd prize in 2022. The Institute of Contemporary Art Boston’s Art Lab hosted her interactive project Threads of Connection in 2020. Numerous publications have showcased Comeau’s work, including Surface Design Journal and Surface Design Association Blog, TextileArtist. org, Fiber Art Now, MutualArt.com, The Boston Globe, Textile Study Group of New York’s blog, Massachusetts Cultural Council’s ArtsSake blog, FiberArts, and World of Threads Artist Interviews. Comeau has completed over 15 private and public commissions. Her work is included in many private collections and the collections of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Children’s Hospital of Boston, the Marlborough Hospital in MA, Stamford Hospital in CT, and Lahey Hospital in Burlington, MA. Comeau serves on the Board of Directors for Snow Farm: New England Craft Program and as a member of the Surface Design Association Events Committee.
