ALICE ROSA was born and raised in Italy. She graduated from the University of Verona with a degree in foreign languages and literature. She also holds a degree in art conservation from IVBC in Venice, where she specialized in the restoration of polychrome wood sculptures and paintings on panel.

Alice studied botanical art through the Distance Learning Diploma Course of the Society of Botanical Artists in London, where she was tutored by two-time Royal Horticultural Society Gold medal winner, Janie Pirie. She graduated from the program with distinction in March 2022.  In January 2024, Alice became a Fellow of the Society of Botanical Artists.

Through her compositions, Alice enables the viewer to experience the plant from new perspectives, while providing a scientifically accurate rendition.  Alice’s work is inspired by the humble power and beauty of nature, from the simplest wild flower to the most elegant peony. Studying botany gave her a much deeper understanding of the delicacy and vulnerability of plants and therefore the impact that humans have on the natural world. Her wish is to raise awareness of the wonders of nature through her art, and with that, encourage a deeper respect for the environment.

Alice’s background as a conservator made her aware of  the importance of using only the highest quality material, so that her work can be enjoyed for years to come. Every piece of work is done using archival paper and lightfast pencils. Every piece is framed using archival materials, and UV protecting glass.
